When my friend Eugenia and I were having tea at Marmalade Pantry one afternoon in early Dec, she came up with the bright idea of posting 12 days of Christmas recipes. I knew it was a brilliant idea, but I was reluctant as it would mean a lot of work in a very short time. ‘Next Christmas,’ I thought, ‘I can start earlier and I’ll be more prepared.’ But it was too good an inspiration to give up. So as they say, the rest is history… in this case, written, edible history.
Over the last twelve days, I’ve baked, roasted, kneaded, frozen, piped, and whipped up twelve different recipes inspired by the gifts in the song Twelve Days of Christmas. There were days I thought I wouldn’t make the deadline, and days where I had to make the same darn thing thrice to perfect the recipe! But I’m proud to say at the end of it all… I DID IT!!! I think I deserve a pat on the back, don’t you think? Better still, a back massage and foot reflexology, please. More importantly though, I’d like to thank all of you who’ve been following my blog, reading my recipes, and giving me encouragement and feedback. Knowing I was actually reaching out to you, yes YOU, and not just talking to myself in virtual reality kept me going. THANK YOU!
Now that the series is over, I do not have to wake up in panic over the fact that I have nothing written (or made!) for that day. And I can spend more time with my poor 4 month-old kitten, Pepper, who’s been starving for attention.
So on this Christmas eve, I wish you lots of quality family time, good eats, and a very blessed Christmas. Feel free to share your experience or questions if you tried any of the recipes over Xmas. You can do so by clicking the ‘leave a comment’ link at the top of any recipe post. I’d love to hear from you! Merry Xmas!!!
